DECATUR, Ga. — The League of Women Voters of DeKalb County (LWVDK) will host a Postcard Writing Party on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Northlake-Barbara Loar Library, 3772 LaVista Road, Tucker, GA 30084, as part of a nationwide Day of Action organized by the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS).
The event marks LWVDK’s local participation in “Unite & Rise for Voting Rights,” a national mobilization taking place in communities across the country on August 8 in honor of the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The Day of Action is part of LWVUS’s broader “Unite and Rise 8.5” initiative, which aims to engage and mobilize 8.5 million voters nationwide ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections.
Community members are invited to stop by the library to help write postcards encouraging voter registration and participation. LWVDK will provide postcards, mailing labels, and stamps — attendees are asked to bring their favorite writing utensils and their creativity.
